What is new in the Celebrity Cruises Europe 2028 – 2029 season
Celebrity is deploying eight ships across Europe for 2028. Four of them come from the Edge Series. Here is how the season breaks down.
- Northern Europe from Southampton: Celebrity Beyond, 40 ports
- Northern Europe from Amsterdam: Celebrity Apex, 38 ports
- Mediterranean from Rome: Celebrity Ascent, 19 ports
- Mediterranean: Celebrity Xcel, 23 ports
- Eastern Mediterranean from Athens and Barcelona: Celebrity Infinity, 30 ports
- Western Mediterranean from Rome and Barcelona: Celebrity Eclipse, 22 ports
- Italy and Croatia from Rome and Ravenna: Celebrity Constellation, 16 ports
- Iceland from Reykjavik: Celebrity Summit, 4 ports
That spread matters, because it gives you real choice of style as well as destination. A small ship working Iceland is a completely different holiday to a new Edge Series ship crossing the Mediterranean. Yet both sit in the same season.
Celebrity Beyond comes to Southampton
This is the headline for British travellers. Celebrity Beyond swaps her Caribbean winter for a British summer and makes her Southampton debut. As a result, UK guests get the Edge Series experience for the first time without flying anywhere.
The practical upside is obvious. No flights. No baggage allowances. No early morning airport run. You drive to the port, hand the car over and walk on board. For families travelling with a lot of kit, that changes the whole shape of the holiday.
The less obvious upside is the ship herself. Her designers kept the sea in view throughout, from the cantilevered Magic Carpet platform to the Sunset Bar at the stern. Because of this, the sailing days count for as much as the port days. That is not something you can say about every cruise from the UK.
Four Edge Series ships across Europe
Celebrity has put four Edge Series ships into Europe for the season. In fact, that is more than it has ever run in the region at once. Beyond takes Southampton, Apex takes Amsterdam, while Ascent and Xcel work the Mediterranean.
The Edge Series design principle is simple enough. Instead of turning the ship inward, the public spaces face outward, so the destination becomes part of the room. It suits Europe particularly well. After all, so much of the appeal here is coastline and cityscape rather than open ocean.
Eight overnight cities
Eight ports across the season are overnight calls, which means you stay into the evening rather than sailing at six. That is when cities stop performing for day trippers and start behaving normally.

Alexandria is the one to note. An overnight there opens up a proper run at the Pyramids rather than a rushed dash. Consequently, it is the kind of call that sells out first. Similarly, an evening in Istanbul or Lisbon is worth planning a whole itinerary around.
When do Celebrity Cruises Europe 2028 – 2029 sailings go on sale?
The sailings go on general sale on 25 August 2026. Pre-registration opens ahead of that date, so you can put your name down today.
Two years of lead time sounds generous, and in one sense it is. However, the sailings that go first are always the same ones. School holiday dates, connecting cabins, suites, and anything with an unusual port. So if term times fix your dates, registering now is worth doing.
Why registering early is worth the two minutes
Cruise pricing works differently to most holidays. Launch fares are typically the lowest they will be. Cabins also release in a fixed order, so the choice narrows rather than widens as the season fills. Because of this, the people who book in the first fortnight generally get the better cabin and the better fare.
Beyond that, there is the Southampton factor. A new Edge Series ship sailing from a UK port, with no flights involved, will attract a great deal of attention. Consequently, those sailings are likely to move faster than anything else in the season.

Yes, and most people are not sure at this stage. Simply tell us the sort of trip that appeals. We will then narrow it down together once the itineraries land.
Will I definitely get the sailing I want?
We cannot guarantee any specific cabin or sailing, because availability opens to the whole market at the same time. Registering does, however, mean we already have your details. So we can move quickly instead of starting from scratch on launch day.
Are the 2029 sailings included?
The programme covers 2028 and rolls into 2029. So register your interest either way, and we will flag anything relevant when it opens.
Can I book flights and hotels alongside the cruise?
Yes. We arrange flights, pre-cruise hotel nights, airport parking and transfers as part of the same booking, so the whole trip sits in one place. For the Southampton sailings, a night in a hotel by the port before you board is often worth adding.
