Your itinerary, day by day
Day 1: Southampton
Embark Queen Victoria at Southampton's Ocean Terminal at 16:00 and sail south into the English Channel. No flights, no airport queues — just the open sea ahead and the first evening on board.
Day 2: At Sea
The first of three sea days as Queen Victoria heads south across the Bay of Biscay. A good time to explore the ship, settle into the dining routine and book shore experiences for the ports ahead.
Day 3: At Sea
Continuing south across the Atlantic towards the Portuguese islands.
Day 4: At Sea
A final sea day before reaching Madeira. The ship crosses the latitude of Lisbon and the temperature begins to climb.
Day 5: Funchal, Madeira
Madeira's capital, Funchal, sits in a natural amphitheatre of terraced hillsides above the harbour. The botanical gardens, the cable car up to Monte, the basket-toboggan run back down and the fortified wine lodges in town are all within easy reach. Madeira has no sandy beaches, but the scenery and the food more than compensate.
Day 6: La Palma
La Palma is the most north-westerly of the Canary Islands and one of the least visited — a quieter, greener alternative to its larger neighbours. Santa Cruz de la Palma is the capital, a well-preserved Spanish colonial town with elaborate balconied houses and a relaxed waterfront. The Caldera de Taburiente, one of the largest volcanic craters in the world, dominates the island's interior.
Day 7: Tenerife
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the island's capital and cruise port. Mount Teide, Spain's highest peak, is accessible by cable car from the Teide National Park. The Auditorio de Tenerife, the Museo de Bellas Artes and the Plaza de Espana are all within walking distance of the port.
Day 8: Lanzarote
Lanzarote's landscape is volcanic and unlike anywhere else in the Canaries. The Timanfaya National Park's Fire Mountain and lava fields are the headline attraction. The wine country of La Geria, where vines grow in volcanic ash hollows, and the Jameos del Agua cave are also worth the trip.
Day 9: At Sea
A day at sea as Queen Victoria heads north-east towards the Portuguese coast.
Day 10: Lisbon
Portugal's capital spreads across seven hills above the Tagus estuary. The medieval Alfama quarter, St George's Castle, the tram networks and the pasteis de nata bakeries of Belem are the essentials. Sintra's palaces and the Estoril coast are accessible by excursion if you want more time outside the city.
Day 11: At Sea
Heading north through the Bay of Biscay back towards Southampton.
Day 12: At Sea
A final sea day as Queen Victoria crosses the western approaches to the English Channel.
Day 13: Southampton
Queen Victoria arrives back at Southampton's Ocean Terminal at 06:30 on 16 December 2026. Disembarkation in time to be home well before Christmas.
