High Himalayan Motorbike Odyssey: Ladakh on Royal Enfield 2027

This Himalayan motorbike odyssey takes you through some of the most dramatic riding terrain on earth, crossing passes that top 5,700 metres and riding alongside the Indus River, past ancient monasteries, and into the remote valleys of Ladakh. You ride Royal Enfield 500cc or Himalayan 411cc motorbikes throughout, accompanied by a dedicated tour marshal, a backup vehicle with technical support, and an oxygen kit available at all times for the altitude. Inner Line permits for all restricted border areas are included.

Delhi and Leh

You fly from your UK airport to Delhi with Virgin Atlantic, spending your first night at The Park Hotel, a boutique 5-star property in Connaught Place. The next morning, a domestic flight takes you to Leh, where you check in at Amanthi Ladakh Hotel and spend the afternoon settling in. After a group briefing covering the itinerary and motorcycles, the evening ends with a welcome dinner and campfire.

The Riding Days

Your first ride follows the Indus River to Alchi Monastery, one of Ladakh’s oldest Buddhist sites, known for its 10th-century murals. From there, a longer ride southeast takes you into the remote plateau of Hanle, at 4,300 metres, where you sleep in local huts under some of India’s darkest skies, close to a high-altitude astronomical observatory. Day 5 is the most demanding and most rewarding — crossing Photi La (5,500 m), the legendary Umling La (5,798 m, the world’s highest motorable road), and Nurbu La before arriving at the brilliant blue waters of Pangong Lake, where you spend the night in lakeside yurts.

The final riding days take you along the Shyok River to Nubra Valley, known for its sand dunes and green villages, then west to the remote border village of Turtuk, close to the Line of Control with Pakistan. The return to Leh crosses the iconic Khardung La at 5,360 metres, one of the highest motorable passes in the world, before a final night in the city. A domestic flight back to Delhi and an overnight at The Park Hotel round off the journey before your return flight home.
