The Norwegian Fjords are best seen from the water, and sailing through them aboard P&O Iona is one of the great no-fly cruise experiences. This seven-night round trip departs Southampton on 11 July 2026 (voyage G622), calling at Stavanger, Olden, Flam and Haugesund before returning to port on 18 July.
Iona is the largest ship ever built for the UK market, carrying around 5,200 guests across 30 restaurants and bars, a three-tier glass Grand Atrium and the signature SkyDome — a retractable glass-roofed pool deck that doubles as an evening entertainment venue. She also carries age-specific kids’ and teens’ clubs, making her one of the best family ships afloat. For Norway sailings, the onboard culinary programme features Norwegian-inspired menus created in partnership with local chefs.
Ashore, the ports speak for themselves. Olden sits at the foot of the Briksdal Glacier and the UNESCO-listed Nordfjord. Flam is the gateway to Sognefjord, the world’s longest and deepest fjord, and the starting point of the famous Flam Railway. Stavanger’s cobbled old quarter and 12th-century cathedral reward an afternoon’s wandering, while Haugesund carries the Viking heritage of Norway’s earliest kings.
