Your itinerary, day by day
Day 1: Arrival in Lyon
Fly to France and board the ship in Lyon. A welcome dinner and drink follow, so you'll meet your fellow travellers on the first evening.
Day 2: Lyon
A guided tour covers the renaissance old town, the churches and Place Bellecour, Europe's largest pedestrian square. The ship then heads north along the Saône in the afternoon.
Day 3: Beaune
Wake in Chalon, then drive through the Burgundy villages to Beaune. A guided tour takes in the Hôtel-Dieu, the medieval almshouse with its famous tiled roof.
Day 4: Vienne and Tain l'Hermitage
Visit Vienne and its Roman remains, including the Temple of Augustus and Livia. The ship then sails a lovely stretch of the Rhône Valley to Tain l'Hermitage, where a wine tasting is held on board.
Day 5: Ardèche Gorges
Cruise downstream in the morning before touring the Ardèche Gorges, one of the most striking landscapes in France.
Day 6: Arles and Pont du Gard
Tour Arles, choosing between its Roman remains or the Van Gogh trail. The afternoon brings the Pont du Gard, the Roman aqueduct that still spans the valley.
Day 7: Avignon
Explore Avignon on a guided tour of the Palace of the Popes, or take the petit train instead. Free time follows for the old town and the bridge.
Day 8: Return home
Say goodbye to the crew after breakfast and transfer for the journey home.
