South Africa & Mauritius: 21-Night Tour with Big Five Safari and Beach Stay

This 21-night private tour takes in some of Southern Africa’s most celebrated destinations before finishing with a week of pure relaxation on the Indian Ocean. You’ll start in Cape Town, with time for Table Mountain, the Cape Peninsula and the whale-watching coastline around Hermanus. From there, the tour heads through the winelands at Franschhoek, the dramatic landscapes of Oudtshoorn and the lush forests of Plettenberg Bay, before reaching the Eastern Cape for the safari highlight of the trip.

Your Big Five safari stay is at Hlosi Game Lodge, set on a hillside above the Bushman’s River plain at Amakhala Game Reserve. It’s a malaria-free private reserve in the Eastern Cape, with morning and afternoon game drives led by expert rangers. Lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo all roam the reserve, along with cheetah, giraffe and zebra. The lodge is intimate and family-friendly, with suites and luxury tented accommodation, a pool overlooking the waterhole, boma dining and a children’s programme.

The tour finishes with seven nights half board at the four-star Veranda Pointe aux Biches Hotel on Mauritius’ northwest coast. The resort sits on 200 metres of private beach, with two temperature-controlled pools, a Seven Colours Wellness Spa, watersports, kids’ club and three restaurants. It’s a gentle, relaxed end to a big adventure. Throughout the South Africa leg, the price includes 14 breakfasts and 3 dinners, all tours and sightseeing, transport and internal flights between destinations.
